As a former United States Marine, Alphonso has an organized, disciplined approach to all aspects of his life which includes his application of bodywork. A graduate of the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage, Alphonso studied many different modalities. Licensed and works in Washington, DC and previously Rehoboth Beach, DE.
His fondness for Swedish massage strokes motivated him to explore ways to apply those strokes in unique combination to maximize the overall relaxation of his clients. Describing this part of his approach he says, “I like to treat the muscle like an absorbent tissue that needs to be released.”
His bodywork interest also includes Deep Swedish, working with athletes and muscle energy (MET) work to help relax and lengthen muscles. Alphonso is currently studying aromatherapy with plans to eventually incorporate those techniques into his practice.
An east coast native, Alphonso was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Orange County, Virginia. Before becoming a licensed massage therapist, Alphonso spent years working in the fashion, interior design and retail management industries. There he developed an aptitude for stellar customer service that he now applies to his clients.
Alphonso has also done volunteer work with SERVE Family Shelter creating a tutorial to help individuals to both prepare resumes and do mock first interviews. He is also working to partner with different veteran organizations to provide bodywork to deserving individuals.
When not working, Alphonso enjoys traveling with his husband, trying new foods/wines and visiting family. Having lived in the Washington Metro area for the past 25 years, Alphonso now calls the District of Columbia home.
